avengers squareThe Marvel universe has seen some tumultuous times in recent years, which have spurned book sales to atmospheric levels.  Our heroes have been revealed, kidnapped, and nearly killed.  The Siege was ground-breaking, literally, and has come to a monumental conclusion.  With Norman Osborne falling from his plateau of power and the (Dark) Avengers rounded up, a team of old is about to begin anew.

Asgard is in shambles, the death toll is catastrophic, and the Sentry seems to have been defeated (and disintegrated) and Steve Rogers, our true Captain America, has returned.  In proper timing, Tony Stark, while not 100%, is on the mend and Thor has expressed his appreciation from the help of the mortals in their attempt to save Asgardian and human alike.  The God of Thunder has also declared a pact of unity between the two races should the face of evil ever rise again (which can’t be too far around the corner).

There was a point to everything that has gone down in Marvel’s many worlds which culminate to the date of 5/19/10.  This Wednesday, one of the most famous teams in the realm of comic books is about to return.  The Avengers will once again grace the shelves of comic book stores everywhere, as Iron Man, Thor, and Luke Cage comprise the revival. Wait…no Cap?  Steve Rogers will indeed be a presence but expect him to take on a more administrative role as he works side by side with the President of the United States.

Marvel has been on a hot streak with its smash-mouth storylines that have taken place since the passage of the Superhero Registration Act.  Look for the masterminds of its brilliant titles to keep up the fast-paced, intense reads as we progress into a new era.
