Definitive Technology was founded in Maryland in 1990 by a sound obsessed veteran of the loudspeaker industry and a group of brilliant audio engineers on a mission. Quickly, we became the number one premium speaker brand in the United States. Soon, our offering expanded from a core home theater line to a full array of products designed for no-compromise sonic performance for every room and application. Over the years, the assortment has expanded to include Hi-Fi listening speakers, high performance subwoofers, architectural and built-in speakers, weatherproof outdoor sound, and most recently, streaming sound bars with HEOS Built-in and support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X.

We still design and engineer our speakers at our original Acoustic Research and Development (ARAD) facility in Owings Mills, Maryland, but today we’re part of a larger family: Masimo Consumer. With sister brands that include Bowers & Wilkins, Classe, Denon, Marantz and Polk Audio, our product and engineering teams span the globe and include the brightest, most passionate and inspired minds in performance and luxury audio.
