After going through months of anticipation for this film, it has finally arrived. I almost did a double-take when I first learned A Nightmare on Elm Street was to get a reboot. Produced in part by Michael Bay (who also co-produced the remake of Friday the 13th) and directed by Samuel Bayer, the film joins a growing line of movies that Hollywood feels the need to remake. Now let’s get straight to the point.

Ron Howard is one of those directors who I consider “hit and miss.” For every one or two great films that he puts out, he’ll follow up with something awful like that wasted effort “The Missing.” Of course, it wasn’t always like that. Following the success of “Splash,” Ron decided to tackle some science fiction. Cocoon was the name of the film. 25 years after its theatrical release, does it still hold up top scrutiny? Read on, and see for yourself.

The Clash of the Titans will make its High-Definition debut this July. That’s a long to time to wait to see Gemma Arterton again, but I’m sure I’ll live. Speaking of Gemma, it gives me a reason to post yet another picture of her on the site. Yea! Of course, Clash of Titans also stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. The Warner Brothers’ mythical adventure will battle the Blu-ray format on July 27th. The original 1981 film is already available on Blu-ray and if you missed it, you can check out the full review of it here.

I found this story/video first posted on Facebook. Being huge Rob Zombie fans around here, it only feels natural to share the following video with all our readers who we hope are also big Rob Zombie fans (come on…you know you are…you’re never too old). Anyway, Rob returns to the 2010 scene more sinister than ever. Is that even possible? Hell yeah! I’m a believer. Check out his new video from the first day of the “Gruesome Twosome” Tour that he is currently on with none other than music’s legendary madman Alice Cooper.

Gemma More! Give me more Gemma Arterton that is. I know that’s a pretty lame attempt at humor, but it works for me. Gerard is probably rolling his eyes right now reading this. Ha ha. My exploitation of Gemma Arterton continues with the upcoming Disney release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The film hits theaters everywhere on May 28th. I was generous enough to devote my time today to scouring the web and sharing with you the very best Gemma images I could find from her upcoming performance as Tamina.

My girl is back! That’s right! The sexy hip-shakin’ Colombian superstar Shakira is back this May with a brand new track and this #1 fan here in Cleveland (please come here Shaki…please come to C-town on your tour) could not be happier about the news. Much like she did years ago with her World Cup remix of “Hips Don’t Lie,” Shakira is back again in support of FIFA’s 2010 World Cup. The song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” will be released to digital retailers the week of May 11th with a music video to follow shortly.

Here’s a flick I remember with fondness from my 1980’s childhood. I remember like it was only yesterday when G.I. Joe: The Movie made its debut on television. I remember checking to see if I had the right television channel on because during a battle sequence Duke got shot and there was actually blood. WTF! There was never blood in G.I. Joe, not to mention anybody ever getting hit by a laser or stray bullet before. And who can forget about Cobra Commander’s horrific demise?

As MMA (mixed martial arts) matches seem to dot the fighting landscape at every turn, there is no denying the boxing will forever remain the classic fighting favorite among fans. There is a certain grace, class, and strategy to boxing that separates the sport from its MMA brethren, making it much more than a caged street brawl. Talent continues to pour from every corner of the U.S. as young boxers lace up the gloves for their love of the fight and their hopes of a successful career in the ring.

This is kind of old news by now, but it’s worth mentioning in my opinion. My hat goes off to James Cameron and his newest achievement in life. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that the Blu-ray edition of Avatar has sold 2.7 million units by this past Sunday. This record number of Blu-ray sales surpasses the lifetime sales of the previous top-selling Blu-ray, The Dark Knight, which took over a year to sell 2.5 million units.

I was looking through the iTunes trailer page today and look what I found. I thought that beautiful face looked familiar. Leave it to me to find more news on Gemma Arterton. The beautiful vixen seems to be everywhere nowadays and I’m not complaining. Are you? In addition to her upcoming Prince of Persia role Gemma will be starring in the British thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed this August. I can’t wait!

From the moment I saw the trailer back in January, I was instantly convinced that The Losers was going to be a fun-filled action flick with moments of over-the-top action, a little naughty Saldaña, and a whole lot of happy triggers. Now it’s three months later and opening weekend for the film and as for all those assumptions I made back in January, they were pleasingly true.

Our love and admiration for Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures is no secret here on Why So Blu (see our other stories here, here and here). After all, any friend of Rob Zombie is a friend of ours. Last week, we broke a very exciting and insightful interview here on the site with Captain Clegg’s go go dancer Mistress Clegg (see here). So why would we depart from the Clegg train now? The answer is we WON’T.
